Sobre la asociación entre los lípidos sanguíneos y la presencia de ateroesclerosis regional

Justificación: Las manifestaciones de la ateroesclerosis pudieran ser dependientes del estado de los lípidos sanguíneos. Diseño del estudio: Analítico, retrospectivo. Serie de estudio: 202 pacientes (Hombres: 70.8%; Edad: 49.5 -/+ 11.6 años) en los que se realizó una angiografía por sustracción digital (ASD) debido a manifestaciones clínicas de ateroesclerosis regional. Los pacientes se distribuyeron según la lesión observada del árbol arterial: Ausencia de lesión: 11.4%; Lesión coronaria: 11.9%; Lesión cerebrovascular: 18.8%; y Lesión arterial periférica: 57.9%; respectivamente. Materiales y métodos: Se recuperaron los lipidogramas completados en los pacientes estudiados. Se evaluó la asociación entre los valores observados de los lípidos sanguíneos y la presencia de lesión ateroesclerótica regional. Resultados: Los pacientes con lesión del árbol coronario mostraron valores elevados de los triglicéridos séricos. Los enfermos con ateroesclerosis cerebral exhibieron cifras disminuidas de HDL. Conclusiones: La asociación entre los lípidos sanguíneos y la ateroesclerosis regional no fue tan intensa como se anticipaba. Pacientes con afectaciones de varios vasos arteriales en una región especificada mostraron valores normales (o modestamente elevados) de los lípidos séricos. La asociación estudiada pudo haber sido modificada por el sexo del paciente. Se recomienda la conducción de estudios prospectivos con técnicas no invasivas para indagar más en el vínculo dislipidemia-ateroesclerosis regional.
